The London Plan will require the use of renewable energy in big developments; a big increase in the provision of solar energy technology where technically feasible and wider use of green roofs planted on top of buildings.

On transport, the Plan calls for a big increase in refuelling stations for cars using liquified petroleum gas and a big increase in the use of water and rail transport during development projects. The Mayor wants to see 50 per cent of London’s waste recycled by by 2010 compared with a government target of 30 per cent.
