Martyn Lewis, one of Britain’s best-known broadcasters is the Founder and also Chairman of YouthNet UK. In 1997, www.thesite.org was voted Best non-commercial website’ in the New Media Age Internet Awards, and it also achieved Best Information website for 1999.
YouthNet UK has created a Home Office funded portal, Do-It’ to match everyone who wants to volunteer with the right volunteering opport-unities. This already offers more than 300,000 volunteering opportunities on-line, with many more to come.
In 1994, Martyn Lewis made the news himself with two controversial and wildly debated speeches arguing for a shift in the agenda of TV news programmes to achieve a fairer balance between the positive and the negative, and report and analyse achievement just as much as failure.
Martyn was appointed CBE in the New Year Honours List for 1997 for services to young people and the Hospice Movement.
