Imagine going on your holidays to the Austrian Alps and only needing one key to guarantee unlimited mobility and the use of over twenty different modes of transport: electric cars, E-scooters, E-fun-riders, bicycles and horse carriages, mostly running on sustainable wind and solar energy. With its Sanfte Mobilitat scheme, the town of Werfenweng has become a model for car-free tourism.

Already, studies show that in one winter season alone, carbon dioxide emissions in the area were reduced by about 374 tons. That is as much as the annual output of 72 family homes. With their combination of solar supply stations, their biomass and wind-power plants and their variety of sustainable transport, the town of Werfenweng is a unique place for an enjoyable, ecological holiday.
