Positive News US Celebrates Anniversary

Positive News US, based in Ithaca, New York, attracted many during its first ever event, Kick Off Autumn with Positive News, to celebrate their first anniversary since establishment and the release of their autumn edition. Included was an afternoon of music, pumpkin painting, guest speakers, hot cider and delicious desserts. Visitors experienced four enjoyable hours while the Positive News team promoted issues such as sustainability, social justice and general happiness.

Attendance and support for the event, held in Ithaca, was numerous. Chants of Positive News’ filled the pavilion and passerbys could not help but be lured by happiness and upbeat music performed by an exceptional group of local musicians ñ One Heart Community Drum, The Hillbetties, The Shanty Band and The Odd Hawks. Present was an array of prominent figures including editor and co-editor of Positive News US, Ilonka Wloch and Marti Luster, and the Ithaca City Mayor, Carolyn Peterson.
Distribution topped the charts with nearly every attendee holding the new autumn issue in hand. Local busines-ses also donated a hefty amount of merchandise, gift certificates, food items and equipment to ensure the success and well-being of the event. Kick Off Autumn with Positive News is the first in a series of events that Positive News US are sponsoring to raise awareness of the publication. Editor, Ilonka Wloch, believes that it is particularly important to expose the paper to as many people as possible. A spokesperson of Positive News US stated: “It is these types of events that really bring credibility and possibility to issues of peace, when a community can come together like this and smile in spite of the hard times that the world faces.” The Positive News message is spreading that another world is possible and happiness really can happen!
