magine going on a luxury holiday to the Austrian Alps where you only need one key to guarantee unlimited mobility and the use of over 20 different modes of transport — electric cars, E-scooters, E-fun-riders, bicycles and horse carriages — all of which run on sustainable wind and solar energy.

This is the idea behind Soft Mobility’ tourism in Werfenweng, Austria, a model community for car free tourism since 1997. Already, studies show that in one winter season, CO2 emissions were reduced by about 374 tons. This is about as much as the annual CO2 output of 72 oil heated single-family homes with approximately 200 occupants.

The combination of solar supply stations, biomass and a wind-power plants ensures the same standards that non renewable energy sources afford, and yet return the investment to the environment as well as providing a unique experience of ethical living without compromising choice.
