I’m a real mixed bag,’ writes singer songwriter Sally Garozzo, explaining her bi-national parentage. ‘My father is from Sicily and my mother from Clacton-on-Sea in Essex; so I’m like fish n’ chips; one lonely cockle and a few sundried tomatoes with chilli!’

This candid, fresh approach to self-description is full of personality, as is Sally’s music. Her influences are as diverse as her heritage, ranging from traditional Church music, to Classical to Popular music. In 2000 she won Performer of the Year.

The Essence of Solitude is Sally’s first album ñ a thought-provoking, soulful, honest debut that has been well received by both fans and critics. Described as Karen Carpenter with a contemporary rock edge, her voice is evocative, keeping listeners engaged.
