Shot over a five year period by farmer Rosamund Young, this programme shows us secret’ glimpses into the ordinary, everyday lives of cattle, sheep, hens and wildlife on her Worcestershire farm. Here we see sheep making use of nature’s larder for feeding and medicinal purposes, calves playing tag and hens soaking up the sunshine.

The Secret Life of the Farm’ is a visual accompaniment to Rosamund’s highly acclaimed book The Secret life of Cows’. It shows us impromptu and random insights into how domestic farm animals behave. It clearly shows them making choices and expressing preferences, forming life long friendships and family bonding. All this is seen against the backdrop of Kite’s Nest Farm, an organic farm which actively encourages meadow and wild flowers, wild birds and badgers to thrive on the land and live side by side with the domestic farm animals.
