Worcestershire Resource Exchange (WRE) was opened by the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust in 2004. Situated in Worcester city, WRE is a scrap-store’ which collects clean and safe waste from a range of industries and businesses and sells it as inexpensive resources.Customers of the Exchange include teachers and other educators, community play workers, arts groups, Guide and Scout groups, as well as members of the public. WRE operates a membership scheme for its customers. WRE stocks a wide range of materials and resources, from the wild and wonderful, to the everyday and ordinary.Collecting and recycling waste materials in this way helps to reduce the amount of waste being buried in landfill sites and provides a source of exciting and cheap resources.Community RepaintThe Worcestershire Resource Exchange also operates a Community Re-paint scheme: collecting unwanted paint from retailers, businesses and households, and redistributed them for re-use. Paint is difficult to dispose of and, to throw it away is a waste of valuable resources. For more information about what types of paint are collected and how to obtain paint from the scheme, please contact WRE.Creative Arts WorkshopsWRE also employs a Creative Arts Officer who offers arts based workshops for children in schools and community groups, and training for teachers, play-leaders and other educators. These workshops focus on using a range of recycled and found materials in creative art, craft and design technology work; such as mask and jewellery making, sculpture and illustration work. For details of membership and further information about workshops, please contact WRE on 01905 726 796 or the Creative Arts Officer on 01905 731 849.Opening times:Thursday: 12.00am ñ 7.00pmFriday: 10.00am ñ 5.00pm Saturday: 10.00am ñ 1.00pmContact: http://www.worcesresource.co.uk/Worcestershire Resource ExchangeUnit K,Gregory’s Bank Industrial Estate,Worcester,WR3 8ABPhoto: © WRE
