Mexicos President, Felipe Calderon has declared that his country willplant 250 million trees by the end of 2007, as part of the UnitedNations Environment Programmes Plant for the Planet.

Mexicos President, Felipe Calderon has declared that his country will plant 250 million trees by the end of 2007, as part of the United Nations Environment Programmes Plant for the Planet.
The President has pledged to invest more than six billion pesos into the campaign. This will go to help recover deforested areas and restore aquifers, with a focus on four main objectives: conservation and restoration; forest organisation; production and productivity; and the development of infrastructure and communication. All 250 million trees will be indigenous to Mexico.
