Students and other bodies within Higher Education can now be recognised for their green credentials.

Students and other bodies within Higher Education can now be recognisedfor their green credentials. The Green Gown Awards are organised byHEEPI, Higher Education Environmental Performance Improvement ñ ascheme encouraging environmental improvement in the Higher Educationsector.

The Awards were established to raise awareness about the growingpressures for better environmental performance by our UK universitiesand colleges, and to recognise the positive responses to them,” saysHEEPI.

A number of these positive responses come under the new StudentInitiatives’ category, for students who have brought aboutenvironmental improvements on campus. Sussex Environmental Society wonan innovation’ award last year for their naked’ calender whichpromotes environmental awareness.
