After successful collaborations with the organisation, BioRegional, environmental pioneers B&Q have become the very first retailer to sign up for One Planet Living. This global programme is based on the revelation that if everyone in the world lived the way we do in the UK, we would need three planets to support us.

BioRegional will help B&Q, Europe’s largest home improvement and garden centre, to develop two action plans: one to help them improve their own opera-tions and the other to advise customers how to apply the One Planet principles in their own homes and gardens.

Over the winter, B&Q have been selling BioRegional Homegrown Firewood and Kindling with marketable success. ‘Working with BioRegional means that people are purchasing a locally sourced product that hasn’t travelled many miles to reach our store,’ says Rob Dewbury from B&Q. ‘This wood and kindling, like our other wood products in store, is ethically sourced, so customers can be sure that the firewood they are buying is not damaging the environment and that the forest where it was taken from will continue to thrive.’
