The Guild is asking all budding young cooks, aged between 10 and 14, to enter CookIt! 2008. They must create a two-course family meal for a very special occasion using mainly fresh and healthy ingredients. The main course and the pudding should serve between two and four people and cost a maximum of £20 to make. Recipes should also take no longer than one hour 30 minutes to prepare and cook. Six lucky finalists will be invited to London on 22nd May 2008 to prepare their meals in front of a panel of judges at the BBC Good Food test kitchens. The closing date for entries is Monday 7 April 2008.

CookIt-WriteIt! 2008 is looking for young food writers of the future. It is asking entrants, aged between 15 and 18 years, to put together a 750-word piece on any food-related subject, such as a trip to a farmers’ market, an experience in a restaurant or a description of a favourite meal.

The judges are looking for a lively descriptive piece that shows the entrant has a real interest in food. Entries should be emailed by Monday 21 April 2008.
