Good Energy is hosting the fourth Delabole Wind Fair on Saturday 5th July as part if its campaign to promote low carbon living.
At the Delabole Wind Fair there will be wind turbine tours, forums about generating electricity at home and Juliet Davenport, Good Energy’s Chief Executive and leading figure in the field of renewable energy will be addressing an audience on the future of energy in the UK.
Brigit Strawbridge from BBC2′s ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green’ is bringing her latest project to the Wind Fair ‘ The Big Green Idea. Brigit will be showing people that it doesn’t take pots of money, a big house or lots of land to go green and she will be sharing dozens of simple, effective tips for leading a more sustainable lifestyle. The Wind Fair will also be host to lots of entertainment for kids and grown ups, and plenty of local and organic food and drink.
To reach Delabole members of the Good Energy team are embarking on Good Energy’s Cycle Ride South West. The team will make the 180 mile journey from Good Energy’s HQ in Chippenham, Wiltshire to Delabole Wind Farm in North Cornwall using only pedal power. The team is made up entirely from Good Energy staff, proving that you don’t need to be superhuman to travel under your own steam.
Cycle team member Hugo House explains why they are making the ride. ‘At Good Energy we are all about low carbon living. There are lots of simple changes we can make to reduce our footprint but changing the way we travel can be more challenging. With Cycle Ride South West we want to show that getting out of the car and on your bike is good for you, good for your wallet and good for the planet!’
‘What Cycle Ride South West is doing for transport, The Delabole Wind Fair will do for all other aspects of our lives. We want to put people in touch with low carbon living and show them that they can become part of the solution to Climate Change. There is a serious message to the day but we want people to have fun too. So, come and learn about low carbon lifestyles and stay for the fun!’
