RM say that they surveyed a number of pupils about their attitudes to the environment. Their findings were very interesting and give a strong validation to teachers focusing on green issues at school.
“Schoolis where most children that we questioned learned about the environment(82%).” says RM. “This was greater than the proportion of children that learntabout the environment from their parents (75%) or TV programmes (67%).64 per cent of children aged between 11 and 14 years that werequestioned said that they had had lessons about the environment atschool and were interested in the subject. Only 14% confirmed that theyhad not had lessons on the environment at school.” If we are looking to a more optimistic future these finding are promising, showing our youth are getting vital access to information and ideas about how we can protect our environment.
