Chew TV and Creative Partnerships are urging young people aged 25 and under to come up with a fresh new perspective on the world and think about ways on a global scale that could change the way we live.

The leading Internet TV Channel is asking young people to submit their far-fetched, seemingly crazy and inspirational ideas to the channel in the form of a short film to the channel. Whether it’s a mobile phone clip or a 3-minute blockbuster, go to www​.chewtv​.com, login in and simply upload. The deadline for submissions is January 5th and the top ten ideas will be given the opportunity to become a reality!

Chew TV has teamed up with Creative Partnerships the organisation that is running the innovative programme, Ideas That Can Change the World, to create a new channel (www​.chewtv​.com/​i​d​eas) that will present the short films and demonstrate young people’s BIG ideas for making the world a better place. The quality of the film doesn’t matter but it must be super clear what the idea is, how it will change the world and provide an outline of initial ideas of who the young person would need to work with to make it happen (e.g. a scientist, inventor, mechanic etc).

The Ideas That Can Change the World channel was launched at Screen Actions Young People’s Film Festival earlier this month where over one hundred young people took part in the Chew Chat Experience’ and discussed ideas around Talkaoke’s doughnut shaped game-show style chat table. The thought-provoking sessions were filmed and will be up on the channel soon to encourage young people to follow suit. The top ideas will be selected by a panel of judges from within the industry and will then be developed, linking up the young people with the experts that can bring their thoughts to life.

Ideas That Can Change the World has been running for over a year and some of the great ideas initially submitted to the project have already become a reality and some even have patents pending for tangible products. Kunle says; ‘It’s been an amazing experience working with the Ideas That Can Change the World team to help turn Off It From The Socket into a reality. Obviously there have been some hurdles along the way and there are still some business issues that we are working on but it has given me an invaluable insight into the cutthroat world of professional industries as well as the confidence to know that I can do whatever I want to do and be whatever I want to be. Now that my idea and product will be seen globally on Chew TV who knows where it could lead ñ it’s just great!’

Rehana Mughal, who helped set-up the Ideas That Can Change the World project and is encouraging as many young people as possible to take part, says; “All too often people think that world changing ideas come from senior specialists and young people’s ideas are often dismissed, but real creativity, determination and an astonishing array of talent exists amongst young people right across the country. Young people have some of the best ideas and this project is about giving those ideas a real chance.
