Breakthrough Network has been the focal point for holistic, socially responsible enterprise since 1988. Now, with ‘collaboration’ the key word for 2009, the network has transferred online at www.BreakthroughNetwork.Net
Andrew Ferguson who manages the network has designed a website which avoids the worst faults of other Web 2.0 sites with a grown-up, clutter-free Forum for busy people with no time to faff about. The site is restricted to members only and prioritises high security to keep snoopers, predators and other time-wasters away. The membership is as a result seriously useful and very high quality — a ‘generous community’ of experienced advisers, coaches and entrepreneurs.
In addition to a uniquely clear and simple Forum, the website includes an easily searchable Directory in which members provide short profiles and contact details. You can search the directory to find the specialist you want in the geographical location you want, for intelligent support and answers — direct.
Because of the openness and transparency of the Forum and Directory, visitors need to join (and reveal their email address to the administrators though not until they choose to other members) before they can view the forum or search the directory. Other sites are spied on by all sorts of unsavoury characters, but www.BreakthroughNetwork.Net has as far as possible blocked this. This does involve an element of trust on visitors’ part, but the very small membership fee (£9.20 rising to £39.95 from April 2009) is refundable if a member is dissatisfied, and new members receive LifeShift books by Andrew Ferguson to the value of their subscription which they keep if they decide to leave. Nobody has as yet activated this guarantee.
“The answer to your questions is a PERSON,” says the website. It’s like an introduction agency for businesses. To join, click through to http://breakthroughnetwork.net/signup.php
The overriding aim is to support members in finding their purpose in life through the work they do. Members are focused on working towards a personal positive purpose, socially and ecologically responsible, providing authentic leadership, joy and meaning.
