“We believe in the power of music to transform young people’s lives,” they proudly point out. “Music has the power to encourage and nurture talent; a power that builds confidence and self-esteem; a power that opens new horizons, raises aspirations and helps individuals express who they are.”
Since 1999, they have provided over 2 million children and young people with free access to a range of music-making projects and activities. For many, being given the chance to experience the power of music has been a life changing experience.
Because of Youth Music there are now more high quality music-making opportunities for a wider range of children and young people than ever before ñ from learning rock guitar or beatboxing, to classical violin and everything in between.
“The day I walked in and met everyone changed my life and I felt great. I think being part of the group could help anyone. It’s one of the greatest things I have been part of.” says Rob, (18) from Cumbria. Rob is one among millions of young people having a great experience with Youth Music.
To celebrate this tenth year, there are some major events for young people to really get their teeth into:

Youth Music Box, Youth Music starting on 1 October 2009

Youth Music Box is an electrifying interactive musical experience developed by music and graphics experts Silent Studios with interactive artist Chris O’Shea.
Create your own unique track and video using cutting edge technology, all in under 10 minutes! Youth Music Box is a chance for anyone of any age to take part in making music ñ whether you’re an accomplished musician or complete beginner.
Youth Music Box will then put an unmissable free event at Colston Hall Bristol this autumn, as part of its countrywide tour to celebrate Youth Music’s 10th birthday.

Youth Music Week, Youth Music | 7 November 2009
Location: UK
Youth Music Week, 7th-14th November, will return for its fourth year in 2009 to celebrate the power of young people’s music making.
During the week, hundreds of performances, workshops, showcases and taster sessions for young people of all ages will take place across England and Wales. The activities, led by Youth Music’s funded projects, including the network of Youth Music Action Zones, will bring the Music is Power campaign to life.
