Author Bruce Nixon, is offering his new book, A Better World is Possible, as a free download ahead of publication.

The book is described as a handbook for people who want to lobby and press for urgent, radical actions that will address the environmental crisis, prioritise the wellbeing of all human beings and put an end to war and violence.

“I want it to be available now, before the UN Climate Change Summit, COP16 at Cancun, Mexico, from 29 November to 10 December 2010,” Bruce explains. “In the UK we must influence the decisions being made by our new coalition government that will affect our future over the next five years and more.”

Subtitled ‘What needs to be done and how we can make it happen’, the book states that we face the biggest challenge in our history and looks at 5 interlinked major issues: climate change; ‘peak everything’; ecosystem destruction; poverty and economic justice; and violence, war, terrorism and the threat of nuclear annihilation.

The book proposes that the whole global system has to be transformed to serve ordinary people everywhere, and that people need to turn their anger into effective action to bring about positive change.

“We need to transform the system,” says Bruce. “Rather than trying to fix it, we need to change it for the benefit all. We need far more representative and inclusive democracy from local to global levels. We need to transform the debt money system and taxation. Above all we need the hope and inspiration of a great new endeavour combined with practical action.”

Bruce continues: “Many people know that something is deeply wrong and have had enough. More people need to know that there are alternatives to an unsustainable, unjust system, fuelled by debt money. Alternatives, that focus on the wellbeing of all, are offered in A Better World is Possible.”

Endorsed by figures such as Tony Juniper, Satish Kumar, James Robertson and Kevin McCloud, the book is due to be published next year by O-Books.
