To all the Positive News team,

I never had the pleasure of meeting Shauna Crockett-Burrows in person but I have been a committed reader and supporter of your work for several years now.

Thank you all for the energy, hope, commitment and balance with which you pursue your work – in a sense I met Shauna through the vision that she and you share with the world. And what an important and necessary vision it is.

I am sure that Shauna’s legacy will only go from strength to strength.

Dear Sean, Jane and team,

Although, sadly, Shauna is no longer with us in person, the light she kindled in the world will now never go out. Through her extraordinary commitment and dedication to seek and share positive news Shauna has supported many people to shine their light, which has then inspired so many more of us.

During all the informative events at which she and I met over the last 20 years it was exciting to realize how many people that information would reach because of her work.

I wish you well in your endeavors to help us all to keep on keeping on and in raising the importance of positivity.

Dear Sean,

I e-mailed Shauna a few days ago and copied you in. Having not received a reply I now know why.

I am so sad to hear of dear Shauna’s passing. What a loss to the world!

I will keep fond memories of wonderful chats we shared over the phone, the lovely articles on Peace Mala she published over the years and her attendance, along with yourself, to the Peace Mala International Awards for Youth in Cardiff a few years ago.

Shauna was inspirational, creative and and passionate about bringing good news to the planet. She once told me that someone made a comment about Positive News as being subversive. I laughed and said, “Much the same has somtimes been said to me about Peace Mala. I guess we are a pair of old ‘trouble makers’ who simply want to see a more compassionate world.”

Please do include my words in your tributes.

With my love and prayers for Shauna and alll the team at Positive News. Be sure to keep up Shauna’s good work! I’m sure she’ll be watching you.

I’m searching for a few words for you: determined (sometimes stubborn), generous (stubbornly so), visionary (prepared to stand stubbornly against prevailing dogma). In your gentle way you were formidably caring of your friends, and the planet. I feel honoured to have known you and worked with you. You will stay, stubbornly, in my memory and heart as a good and kind person. An inspiration.

Shauna was an individual who held aloft a torch illuminated by her extraordinary drive and determination. As an editor and journalist she determined to create a space in the world for positive news stories and in doing this encouraged individuals and groups to contribute towards positive activities in this world.

Through her dedication, determination and energy, well beyond the age when most of us would have put our feet up and retired, Shauna has helped spread light and hope across the world.

We have lost another person of the highest calibre in Shauna Crockett-Burrows. If only the people who run our national papers had some of Shauna’s integrity, vision and humility. PN has always stood for decency and an unwillingness to criticise or judge. That is one of the main reasons I have taken it. It is a breath of fresh air amoungst the slime, gossip, prejudice and down right nastiness that represents so much of the media.

In Positive News, she founded a paper which is a light amongst the darkness, with its energetic and vibrant reporting on all that is good and positive in the world

For all of the above we have Shauna to thank.
